On November 29, 2024, second-year Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECED) students creatively retold Ed Young鈥檚 Lon Po Po, a Little Red Riding Hood Story from China, to CPU Kindergarten students.

BECED Gems, a newly recognized student organization of the Early Childhood Education Program of the College of Education, celebrates this year鈥檚 Children鈥檚 Month at CPU Kindergarten. Children鈥檚 Month is an annual national celebration every November, aiming to raise awareness of children鈥檚 rights and to cultivate the importance of the quality of support provided for the little ones.

In line with this year鈥檚 national theme, 鈥淏reak the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines,鈥 the second year Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECED) students showcased a creative storytelling of Ed Young鈥檚 Lon Po Po, a Little Red Riding Hood Story from China on November 29, 2024.

The story was not only a surprise to the little tots but also a way to empower them through the story鈥檚 socially relevant theme. Songs, rhymes, and fingerplays were facilitated by BECED pre-service teachers who are currently deployed in the university鈥檚 laboratory school. The activities were conducted by the Gems in both morning and afternoon sessions and closed with the giving of simple treats to the young learners.

BECED Gems has been collaborating with CPU Kindergarten through various activities that continue to uphold children鈥檚 rights. The organization鈥檚 various community engagements continue to celebrate the 鈥淕em鈥 in each child.
