Jose Ariel Lañada currently serves as the Divisional Educational Lead for the Neurosciences, Orthopaedics, Trauma, Specialist Surgery, Children’s and Neonates Division for Oxford University Hospitals Foundation Trust.
Centralian Nurse Jose Ariel Lañada (BSN ’93) was named the “BAME (Black, Asian Minority Ethnic) Nurse of the Year” during the 2021 National BAME Health and Care Awards held on May 6, 2021.
The awards aim to recognize National Health Service staff from BAME backgrounds.
At the height of the pandemic, Lañada led the distribution of food packs to the villages of Oxfordshire. He also took care of 46 Filipino NHS workers who tested positive for COVID-19 by buying and delivering them groceries while they were in quarantine.
Lañada finished his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from ºÚÁÏרÇø in 1993. Before going to the United Kingdom, he worked as a nurse at the Iloilo Mission Hospital after passing the National Licensure exam in 1994. He currently serves as the Divisional Educational Lead for the Neurosciences, Orthopaedics, Trauma, Specialist Surgery, Children’s and Neonates Division for Oxford University Hospitals Foundation Trust.
