Atty. Gerlie Uy (Bachelor of Laws 鈥03) donated books to Henry Luce III Library on June 8, 2021. The turn-over聽of the donation was facilitated by College of Law Secretary Mrs. Rodalyn Quimba.
Uy donated two of her written works, 鈥淪pecks: An Anthology of Poems鈥 and 鈥淕uilty, your humor: My Proofs Beyond Reasonable Laugh鈥.
On the occasion of her 17th year as a lawyer, Uy is also holding a fundraiser for a holding facility for children in conflict with the law (CICL). The proceeds will also be used for home/personal kits to be given to children in Hacienda Esperanza in La Carlota City.
鈥淔or every P500 you shared plus LBC P200, I am gifting a book in return. The book, Guilty, Your Humor: My proofs beyond reasonable laugh, is a collection of funny anecdotes in my 17 years of practice,鈥 said Uy.

鈥淚n all points in time, children in conflict with the law should not be put in jail or PNP detention cells. They should be placed in the custody of their parents or in a holding facility dedicated to them and hopefully in a Bahay Pag-asa as envisioned by RA 10630. There are times when sending back the children to their family or community is not recommended, there comes in the purpose of a holding facility.鈥
“Because of the surge of CICLs and the painful experience of having to send back a child to a risky community just because we have no holding facility, our La Carlota City Mayor, Dr. Rex Jalando-on, will be prioritizing the upgrading of a space he identified to be a holding facility for the children within this year. I wanted to work with the DSWD to equip the holding facility so that it can be functional. Through this fundraising project, we can work out to donate home/personal essentials like beddings, electric fans, board games, toiletries, emergency medical kits and others.鈥
She also chose the children of Hacienda Esperanza as the area is one of the most poverty-stricken in La Carlota City. Through this fundraising, she and her team will give them food and personal essentials.
Uy is currently based in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
