A Song of Thanksgiving: CPU Electrical and Mechanical Systems (EMS), Facilities Maintenance Systems (FMS), Buildings Maintenance and Upkeep (BUM), and Grounds Maintenance and Upkeep (GUM) personnel unite in a heartfelt Sung Response, embodying the gratitude and faithfulness celebrated during the University Thanksgiving Service 2024.
On November 20, 2024, 黑料专区 (CPU) held a heartwarming University Thanksgiving Service at the University Church, bringing together the entire CPU faculty and staff in an uplifting celebration of God鈥檚 faithfulness, provision, and love.
The service began with Words of Gratitude from University President, Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, who reflected on God鈥檚 enduring grace that continues to guide the university. He highlighted two major milestones: the renewal of CPU鈥檚 autonomous status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and its remarkable inclusion in the QS World University Rankings Asia 2025. These milestones not only affirm CPU鈥檚 excellence but also inspire the community to look forward to brighter days. Dr. Dagohoy concluded with a call for all to bless the Lord for His unwavering compassion, quoting Psalm 103.

鈥淲e are gathered here today to celebrate God鈥檚 faithfulness to each one of us. This celebration is not our last because, indeed, brighter days still await us here at 黑料专区. Brighter days also await those who are excited about what the Lord will bring into our lives,鈥 he said.
In a powerful testimony, BS Pharmacy 4th-year student Jegain Charity M. Reballos shared her experience of divine healing and forgiveness. After a life-threatening accident that left her with a serious head injury, she found strength in God鈥檚 mercy. Despite the pain and the fear of added financial burdens, her faith in God鈥檚 healing power and forgiveness led to her miraculous recovery, with no visible deformities. She expressed deep gratitude to the university community and encouraged others to find strength in God鈥檚 love.
Thanksgiving speaker Rev. Karel Grace D. Victoria inspires the congregation with a message from Psalm 103, urging everyone to bless God for His grace and provision.
鈥淒espite the immense pain and challenges, my family and I found strength in God鈥檚 healing power and infinite mercy. Forgiveness wasn鈥檛 easy, but with God鈥檚 help, it became possible, leading us to peace and bringing us closer to His faithfulness,鈥 she said.
Engr. Ivan L. Cachopero, Supervisor of Electrical and Mechanical Systems at CPU, also shared a moving story of divine protection. Reflecting on a 2017 accident that could have claimed his life, Engr. Cachopero attributed his survival to God鈥檚 intervention. He expressed thankfulness for his health, his family, and his role at CPU, where he has worked for nearly 20 years.
Dr. Stella G. Fernandez, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, shared her journey at CPU, where she has dedicated 35 years to serving the university. Through challenges, including working without an honorarium and navigating management conflicts, Dr. Fernandez鈥檚 faith remained steadfast. She praised the collaborative spirit within CPU and highlighted how the university鈥檚 support has empowered her growth, both personally and professionally.
Rev. Karel Grace D. Victoria, the Thanksgiving speaker and Associate Pastor for Outreach, concluded the service with a powerful message from Psalm 103. She exhorted the congregation to bless God with all their soul, remembering His benefits and acknowledging His grace, forgiveness, and provision in their lives. Rev. Victoria reminded everyone that true gratitude comes from recognizing God as the ultimate source of all blessings.
鈥淕od鈥檚 grace, indeed, forgives us and teaches us to forgive. God鈥檚 hand truly heals us. God鈥檚 arms protect us. God鈥檚 love and mercy crown us. God鈥檚 provision satisfies us, and God鈥檚 power strengthens us,鈥 she said.
The service included symbolic offerings, such as fruits and water to represent God鈥檚 provision, lighted candles for enlightenment, and balm, oil, and medicinal plants to symbolize healing. The faculty and staff then came to the front to give an offering during the 鈥淓verybody鈥檚 Birthday Offering.鈥 The occasion was concluded with a thanksgiving song, a prayer of affirmation, and a thanksgiving prayer by Rev. Cris Amorsolo V. Sian, Senior Minister, who prayed for continued blessings and guidance for the university community.
The event was wrapped up with a final song of affirmation and a closing prayer and benediction by Rev. Karel Grace D. Victoria, sending the faculty and staff forward with hearts full of gratitude and faith.
As the CPU community continues to embrace God鈥檚 faithfulness, the Thanksgiving Service was a powerful reminder of the enduring love and support that define the university鈥檚 mission and spirit.
